Alford Cares Program and Branches Domestic Violence Shelter Announce Exciting Partnership
Huntington, WV – Alford Foundation & Crawl Space Repair’s community outreach program, Alford Cares, is partnering with Branches Domestic Violence Shelter to complete a basement waterproofing project that will ensure a safe, clean, and healthy environment for its residents.
Each year, the Alford Cares program completes a free-of-charge project in the community we serve. The purpose of this program is to put our time and effort back into the community that so wonderfully supports us.
Branches Domestic Violence Shelter is the only emergency shelter and comprehensive service provider for survivors of domestic violence in our region and has been in operation since 1980. Last year alone, their advocates served 1,344 neighbors who felt unsafe at home and answered 6,572 calls to their 24/7 emergency hotline.
This collaboration will provide a safer, healthier, and cleaner environment for those victims and children who had to leave their homes due to domestic violence.
Sara Blevins O’Toole, Branches Director of Development, said, “We are incredibly grateful to Alford Cares for donating their time, talent, and resources to improve the basement at our emergency shelter. Their generosity not only transforms a physical space—it creates a safer, more functional environment that directly supports survivors as they begin to rebuild their lives. This kind of community investment sends a powerful message to those we serve: you are seen, you are supported, and you are not alone.”
“We are so excited to have the opportunity to work with Branches DVS, not only to improve their residents’ living space but also to give back to our community and support those who need it most.” Jamie Messer, AFCR Marketing Manager.
